Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Helen Doan, believed to be the oldest living resident of Canada, passed away on on Thursday, April 18, at the age of 112 years, 213 days, as reported by Dignity Memorial.
Mrs. Doan was born Helen McKinnon Donaldson in Coleman, Ontario, on 18 September 1911. At the age of 12, she moved to Toronto with her family. In 1935, she married Harold Alfred Doan, with whom she had two children, Helen and Harry. She worked as a bookkeeper and an office manager until her retirement in 1976.
At the age of 112, she had five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Doan’s first known public appearance in the media was less than a year ago, in September 2023, when various news outlets covered her 112th birthday. Less than three months ago, on January 30, she became the country’s oldest known living resident, following the passing of a 113-year-old woman from British Columbia.
