Wesley, Dominica — Anastasie Charles, better known as “Ma Maggie”, celebrated her claimed 110th birthday on April 26th. She is believed to be the oldest living resident of the island country of Dominica, and its first supercentenarian claimant in over a decade.

Mrs. Charles was born in Wesley on 26 April 1914, as the youngest of 11 children. She gave birth to one child and worked as a farmer on the Londonderry Estate. She ate what she grew, which is believed to have contributed to her longevity. Some of her favorite foods were crayfish, callaloo, dasheen, coconut and veyo. She also cites other factors contributing to her long life, including proper rest, a kind heart, patience, and the goodness of God.

On 15 October 2021, following the passing of 107-year-old Elizabeth Auguiste of Portsmouth, who was a month older than her, she became the oldest living resident of Dominica.

The LongeviQuest team would like to extend our congratulations. We hope she enjoyed her day, and we wish her many more years of happiness.
