LongeviQuest is delighted to announce that Manitoba, Canada’s oldest person turned 112 years old. Hazel Skuce celebrated her 112th birthday at the Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. In the care home’s lobby, residents and staff sang “Happy Birthday” as Skuce entered the room in a wheelchair. They presented her with cake, cards, and a succulent plant. Smiles and another round of singing followed. Skuce is currently the oldest known living person in Manitoba, Canada, and the third oldest in Canada.
Hazel Skuce was born Hazel Short in Blanshard Municipality, Manitoba, Canada on 7 February 1912. She was a sister and a wife.
Her brother Lawrence Short and sister Muriel Myrtle Westwood both died at the age of 95. Her younger sister, Clara Hornibrook, died on 25 February 2022 at the age of 108 years, 166 days, making them one of the oldest sibling pairs in history.
Skuce currently lives at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
