LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of William Andrew James at 110 years old. He was an American supercentenarian considered as the oldest man ever from the state of Vermont, USA.

William Andrew Jones was born on 5 July 1911 in Lincoln, Addison County, Vermont, USA. He was the second son of his parents who got divorced later when he was a young child. Because of his parents’ separation, William Andrew moved into his grandfather and step grandmother from his mother’s side.

He grew up on a small farm in West Lincoln where he would help by working around the two cos and two horses on the farm. In 1927, electricity was installed on their farm which ignited James’ interest to pursue a career in the electrical field. He started learning by assisting a local electrician. In 1936, he started working as a part-time employee for Central Vermont Public Service which is now Green Mountain Power. Four years later, he became a full-time employee as a first-class line worker. In 1955, James became the Bristol Area district representative, a position he held until he retired in 1974.

Sometime in 1945, James met Mable Jeanette Lucia whom he married on that New Year’s Eve in Burlington. The two of them got three daughters while also adopting Mable’s son from her first marriage.

William Andrew James passed away on 24 October 2021 in Bristol, Vermont, USA. At the time of his death, he was 110 years old and was survived was his four children, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
