Melbourne, Victoria, Australia — It is with a heavy heart for LongeviQuest to report the passing of Mrs. Marija Ruljancich on 18 May 2024, as reported by the Herald Sun. At the time of her passing, aged 110 years, 339 days, she was the oldest (known) living person in Australia.
Mrs. Ruljancich [Ruljančić] was born on 14 June 1913 on the island of Vis in the Adriatic Sea. At the age of 19, she married Ivan Ruljančić, and the couple had three children together. After World War II, the family made the choice to immigrate to Australia, arriving on 8 February 1946.
On 26 January 2024, following the passing of 111-year-old Catherina van der Linden, she became the oldest living person in Australia.
