LongeviQuest recently reviewed the case of Ettie Mae Greene of the United States. She was an American supercentenarian recognized as the oldest person to have lived or passed away in the U.S. State of West Virginia.

Greene has her age initially validated by the Guinness Book of Records in the 1990s. It was claimed that her birthdate was 8 September 1877, but it was corrected in August 2023 after Jimmy Lindberg reviewed her documents. The Global Validation Commission found out that Greene was born on 19 September 1877, making her 11 days younger.

Mrs. Greene’s record of being the oldest person ever in West Virginia remains unbroken to this day. At the time of her death, she was known as the third-oldest living person in the world behind Jeanne Calment of France and Charlotte Hughes of the United Kingdom.
