LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Alfonso María Rojas Perdomo at 110 years old. He is the first Colombian supercentenarian from the Department of Huila whose age has been validated. 

Alfonso was born on 31 May 1913 in Palermo, Huila, Colombia. 

His family was forced to relocate to the Vereda “La Primavera” in Santa Maria, Huila, to avoid the violent conflict between the liberal and conservative parties of the Colombian politics. There, he acquired rural land with his brother and focused on agricultural and livestock work.

Alfonso was married on 12 May 1951 to María Luz Dussán Mejía and had eight children with her. 

At age 110, he is in good health and remains lucid. He is currently residing in Santa Maria, Huila, Colombia.

She is a Japanese supercentenarian born on 5 March 1913 in Japan. 

On 16 September 2023, she became the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, after Tokie Nakayama passed away.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Ai Shinohara at 110 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian reported as the oldest living person in Machida City, Tokyo.

Ai Shinohara was born on 4 January 1913 in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.

She got married during her early 20s but her first husband succumbed to illness just before she gave birth to their first daughter. Around 25 years old, she married for the second time after meeting Kamenosuke Shinohara who was a Doctor of Medicine and pharmacy.

By 1951, Mrs. Shinohara founded Shinotest Laboratory that pioneered in commercializing clinical test kits invented by her husband. In November 1959, Mr. Kamenosuke was acknowledged for his invention of a simple reagent and was honored with the Medal with Purple Ribbon by Emperor Shōwa.

She underwent a medical treatment for approximately six months after experiencing a life-threatening anaphylactic shock due to medication. Fortunately, she made a full recovery and still able to raise six children despite all of her responsibilities. Mrs. Shinohara retired from the company at 83 years old and then joined the Senior Chorus Choir in Yokohama.

She moved into a nursing home at the age of 107 years old. Her current residence is in Machida City, Tokyo, where she is the current oldest living person.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Kenneth Weeks at 110 years old. He is an Australian supercentenarian recognized as the current oldest living man in the country.

Kenneth Loxton Weeks was born on 5 October 1913 in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia.

At the start of World War II in 1941, he married Jean McPhee with whom he had two sons. The couple then proceeded to stay married for 45 years before Jean passed away in 1986.

Ken has had many occupations in his life. He worked on construction jobs like putting up roads and constructing wartime airfields at Evans Head. He was also a truck driver, a petrol station operator, and an employee at the Grafton Match Factory. Ken is also a co-owner of a Chrysler car dealership and repair business in Grafton. After World War II, he set up a radio and electrical sales and repair business at 59 Prince St. He operated this shop for several years but later replaced it with a milk bar. Consequently, he worked as a school bus driver at Clarence Valley.

Ken Weeks moved to an aged care facility at Whiddon Grafton in September 2018 just before turning 105 years old. Even at the age of 110, he is still active and can walk unaided.

On 17 September 2022, Kenneth became the oldest known living man in Australia after Frank Mawer passed away.

LongeviQuest is delighted to share that Juan Gabriel Hernández Matamoros turns 110 years old. He is a Costa Rican supercentenarian recognized as the oldest man in the country.

Juan Gabriel Hernández Matamoros was born on 19 October 1913 in Naranjo, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica.

He only attended school until the fourth grade because he left to work on the family farm where they grow coffee, bananas, sugarcane, and yucca. He also learned and became skilled in making oxen carts and other forms of carpentry and construction from some of his uncles. This became his lifelong career until he retired at the age of 80.

On 22 August 1936, Mr. Matamoros married Claudia Rodriguez Alvarado (1914-2008) and had seven children with her. The couple were married for 72 years before his wife passed away in 2008.

He attributes his longevity to avoiding vices, eating well, having at least eight hours of sleep at night, and working hard. This is what makes him to be in perfect health and still able to do some exercise on a daily basis.

Mr. Matamoros currently lives in Heredia, Heredia Province, Costa Rica, along with his daughter.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Doris Noreen at 110 years old. She is an American supercentenarian born on 15 September 1913 in Rockford, Illinois, USA.

In 1942, she married Carroll Noreen who unfortunately passed away six years after their wedding due to a heart condition. After this, Doris was left to raise their two daughters alone. She moved back to live with her parents to have a support in raising the kids while she worked at the Barber-Colman factory. She remained in this textile and milling machinery manufacturing company for 29 years until Doris retired in 1978.

Upon reaching 98 years old, she moved into a continuing care retirement community where she is currently residing now.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Miyuki Sone at 110 years old. She is a Japanese supercentenarian known as the oldest living person in Toyama Prefecture, Japan.

Miyuki Sone was born on 10 March 1913 in Furubira, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

When she was in her 20s, she married a fisherman who was a distant relative of hers. The couple then moved from Hokkaido to Toyama and had seven children together. While working as a fisherman, Mrs. Sone would her husband by assisting him in running a fish shop.

She had her eyesight fully restored through cataract surgeries at ages 92 and 96 that enabled her to read newspapers again without glasses until 110 years old. In December 2022, she contracted COVID-19 but later had a full recovery. In June 2023, she fell from her wheelchair that resulted in a skull fracture. She endured the pain despite the visible scars on her face as the doctor voted against surgery because of her advanced age.

As of September 2023, she wears a helmet to protect her fractured skull. Mrs. Sone now communicates with her family through written messages. At this point, she was reported as the oldest living person in Toyama Prefecture, Japan, where she currently lives.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce that Bernice Sebastian, the oldest living Saint Kittian and Nevisian, has her age validated at 110 years old.

Bernice Rosalind Eugene Sebastian is an American supercentenarian born in Saint Kitts and Nevis on 21 September 1913.

Sebastian never married nor had any children. For a span of 9 years, from 1932 to 1941, she served as an assistant teacher at the Basseterre Boys’ School. In 1941, she became the Headmistress at the Dieppe Bay Infant (Primary) School. She managed the school for 25 years before moving to Irish Town School where she stayed until she retired in September 1969.

When Sebastian’s mother died, she left Saint Kitts to move to Nova Scotia, Canada, to live with her sister. For around 27 years of living in Canada, he later moved to Queens, New York. Five years later, he moved again to Barryville around 2005 and to Philadelphia finally in 2011. At the age of 100 years old, Bernice had a pacemaker implanted  inside of her.

LongeviQuest is delighted to share that Matilda Bracun, Slovenia’s second-oldest living person, turned 110 years old.

Matilda, who is also called “Tilka”, recently celebrated her birthday at a nursing home in Horjul, Inner Carniola, Slovenia. Former Slovenian President Borut Pahor graced Tilka’s 110th birthday celebration to honor her longevity.

Matilda Bracun was born on 24 September 1913 in the former Austria-Hungary (now Slovenia). She is a Slovenian supercentenarian known as one of the oldest people to survive COVID-19. She is also believed to be the second-oldest known living person in the country.

Tilka trained to be a knitter after finishing primary school. She worked in textile factories Pletenina and Saturnus. Upon her retirement, she continued to knit by sewing tapestries.

Matilda Bracun currently resides at a nursing home in Horjul, Inner Carniola, Slovenia.
