Nellie Louise Brown, a resident of Hackney, London, England, passed away on 31 May, at the age of 111 years, 302 days. Her passing was reported by The Jamaica Gleaner.
Nellie Brown was born in Coleyville, Manchester Parish, Jamaica, on 2 August 1913. At some point, she moved to the United Kingdom.
On 25 March 2015, she met another centenarian, Irene Sinclair, who was 106 at the time and would later become a supercentenarian.
At the time of her passing, she was the third-oldest known living person in the UK, after Ethel Caterham and Merah Smith (who was also born in Jamaica).
Her age is currently under review by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
