Zoraida Montezuma, the oldest living person in Costa Rica, turned 113 years old in San Rafael de Escazú, San José Province. Although her birthday is today, a celebration was held at her nursing home on 29 October.

Zoraida del Carmen Montezuma Ortega was born in Limón, Limón Province, Costa Rica, on 31 October 1913 to parents Juan Montezuma Mora, a mechanic and blacksmith, who worked for many years for the Ministry of Public Works, and Luisa Ortega Mata, a housewife. She never married nor had children.

On 20 June 2025, following the passing of 114-year-old Marita Camacho Quirós, she became the nation’s oldest known living resident.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Zoraida Montezuma on her 113th birthday.
