Alice Rebecca Langford, a resident of Richmond, Virginia, USA, passed away on 12 April, at the age of 111 years, 144 days.

Alice Langford was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on 19 November 1914, to James and Jodie Bray. She had three brothers, Wayne, Horace and James; and one sister, Frances.

Langford attended schools in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, as her family frequently relocated due to work commitments. She graduated from high school in 1933 and was married to Heard E. Langford on 9 December 1933 in Greenwood, South Carolina. The couple went on to have at least three children: Jerry, Anne and Martha.

Throughout her life, Langford has had a deep interest in reading and teaching Sunday school, a vocation she pursued for over 50 years. She was a devout Baptist and also sang in a small country church in Georgia.

On 13 November 2025, following the passing of Virginia Bell of South Hill, Mecklenburg County, she became the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Virginia.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Alice Langford during this difficult time.
