Lorenzo Torres Chávez, a resident of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, celebrated his 110th birthday on 10 August, seven days after than his actual birthday, as confirmed by his family.
Torres Chávez was born in Huejotitán, Jocotepec, Jalisco, on 3 August 1915. In 1942, he married María Guadalupe Castillo Sosa, and together they had 12 children.
Throughout his life, his physical activity and unwavering faith in God contributed to his good health. He barely consumed alcohol and maintained a simple, unrestricted diet. His sister María Torres Chávez (born 12 August 1919) is still alive as of August 2025.
At the age of 108, he expressed no fear of death, stating, “One must live; death will come.” He was reported to have maintained excellent vision, mobility, hearing, and speaking. By that time, his family had grown to include over 50 grandchildren, nearly 70 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
