Josino Levino Ferreira, a resident of Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte, was recently recognized by LongeviQuest as Brazil’s second-oldest living man. To honor his remarkable longevity, we sent him a commemorative plaque celebrating this milestone. He has also recently been acknowledged as the world’s second-oldest living man.
Josino Levino Ferreira was born in a rural area of Areia in the state of Paraíba, Brazil, on 3 April 1913. For his entire career, he worked as a farmer. He married Sebastiana Ana da Conceição in 1941, and the couple had children. The couple moved to Coronel Ezequiel following their marriage, and remained together for nearly 60 years until Sebastiana Ana’s death in 2001 at the age of 87.
As of 2024, he has three living children, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Since 25 November, he has also become the world’s second-oldest living man, following his fellow countryman João Marinho Neto from the state of Ceará, who turned 112 in October. According to the LongeviQuest Atlas, he is currently the 11th-oldest living person in Brazil, whose age is fully documented and validated.
We extend our heartfelt wishes for his continued health and happiness and sincerely thank his family for sharing these recent videos of him.
We would also like to thank and acknowledge our researchers, Iara Souza and Gabriel Ainsworth, for coordinating this recognition and creating the commemorative plaque.
