Mary Franklin, age 110, is now a validated American supercentenarian. She is one of the oldest living people in the state of Maryland.
Mary Franklin was born in the United States on 3 February 1913. Franklin graduated from Wilson College and married William. They lived in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was a hotel doorman and she worked retail. In the 1950s, she became a teacher and moved to Maryland, while her husband pursued a diplomatic career.
A book lover, bridge player, and poetry enthusiast, she now resides in a Chestertown nursing home at age 80.
Franklin was recognized on her 107th birthday in The Bay Times & Record Observer when she celebrated with friends and family. She was given a drive-by parade from various fire departments to celebrate her 110th birthday.
