Longeviquest is pleased to announce that Aileen Kars, the oldest known living person in New Zealand, celebrated her 110th birthday on 12 September 2023. Kars was presented with a birthday card from King Charles and Queen Camilla. She was joined by her extended family, her three granddaughters, and friends for a lunch celebration at Arvida Olive Tree Retirement Village.
Aileen Kars was born in Manawatu, Manawatu-Whanganui, New Zealand on 12 September 1913. Kars lived independently until she was 99 years old when she moved into a retirement home. She attributes her longevity to drinking plenty of water and staying positive. She was described as having a sharp mind, keen senses, and as very accepting of everyone.
On 29 July 2022, Kars became the oldest known living person in New Zealand, following the death of 110-year-old Joan Brennan.
LongeviQuest sends our warmest congratulations to Mrs. Aileen Kars and her family. We wish you good health and happiness.
