Masako Soga was born on 23 February 1913, in Kannabe (which is now part of Fukuyama City), Hiroshima Prefecture. Being born as the seventh of eight children, her older brother and sister raised her by feeding her amazake instead of breast milk.

She later moved to Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture after marrying a film engineer. Her husband passed away in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Soga was still able to sew until she was 95 years old. She was also still able to enjoy eating her candy rice crackers as she still had 20 of her own teeth.

In April 2023, she was still able to walk despite having a broken femur that she got when she was 102 years old.

Masako Soga is currently residing in Okayama Prefecture where she is the current oldest living person at 110 years old.
