Masae Okaguchi (Japanese: 岡口マサヱ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
Masae Okaguchi (岡口マサヱ) was born in Japan on August 1, 1904.
In September 2012, at the age of 108, she was honored by the city of Tanabe as the oldest living resident of Wakayama Prefecture.
She had no particular dislikes when it came to food and especially enjoyed white rice and chagayu (rice porridge). She also ate homemade pickled plums every day without fail. Her secrets to longevity were reported to be “not worrying too much” and “getting plenty of sleep.”
By the time she turned 109, she reportedly spent much of her time resting in bed at the nursing home where she resided. However, she said with a smile, “If my body were weak, I would not have been able to live past 100. Thanks to everyone, I am still in good health.”
Following the death of Sumie Kawamura of Minabe Town on March 2, 2013, at the age of 111, Okaguchi became the oldest living person in Wakayama Prefecture.
On August 1, 2014, she celebrated her 110th birthday, and on the same day, the mayor of Tanabe visited her to offer congratulations.
She passed away on September 8, 2014, at the age of 110 years and 38 days. Following her death, Yoshie Satake of Tanabe became the oldest living resident of the prefecture.
Her age was verified by MHLW, Japan and Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 14 December 2025.
