BIOGRAPHY

Yoshie Satake was born in Japan on 5 December 1904.

At the age of 100, she was still living at home and remained mentally and physically active. She enjoyed writing and kept a daily diary. She also liked to stay physically fit, often engaging in light exercises during her free time. She was in such good health that she rarely needed to go to the hospital.

Even around the age of 110, she was reportedly in good spirits while using a wheelchair. However, after catching a cold, her condition gradually worsened, and she passed away of natural causes on 16 March 2015, at a nursing home in Tanabe City, at the age of 110 years, 101 days.

RECOGNITION

In September 2014, following the passing of Masae Okaguchi, Satake became the oldest known living person in Wakayama Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 9 June 2025.
