Sumie Kawamura [Japanese: 川村寿美枝] was a Japanese supercentenarian. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Wakayama Prefecture.

BIOGRAPHY

Sumie Kawamura (川村寿美枝) was born in Japan on February 8, 1902.
At the age of 110, she was living in her home in Minabe, Wakayama Prefecture, with her niece. She enjoyed singing children’s songs and spent her days reading newspapers and watching TV.
Every morning, she made it a habit to eat black soybeans and pickled plums. According to her family, she especially enjoyed eating seasonal foods that reflected the time of year.

On April 24, 2012, following the death of Yone Tsukiyama of the same town at the age of 110, Kawamura became the oldest living person in Wakayama Prefecture.
She passed away of natural causes at her home in Minabe, Wakayama, on March 2, 2013, at the age of 111 years and 22 days. Upon her death, Masae Okaguchi of Tanabe City succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living person.
