Yone Tsukiyama [Japanese: 築山ヨネ] was a Japanese supercentenarian. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Wakayama Prefecture.

BIOGRAPHY

Yone Tsukiyama (築山ヨネ) was born in Sakai, Minabe Town, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, on November 1, 1901.
She lived with her family at home until the age of 99. Until then, she read the newspaper every day and grew vegetables in her garden, sharing the fresh produce with her family.

According to her relatives, she was passionate about education and placed great importance on manners. She preferred Western-style food over traditional Japanese dishes, favoring meatballs rather than simmered fish or vegetables.

Tsukiyama became the oldest living person in Wakayama Prefecture in August 2010.
She passed away from natural causes in Minabe Town on April 24, 2012, at the age of 110 years and 175 days. Following her death, Sumie Kawamura of the same town succeeded her as the prefecture’s oldest living person.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 28 August 2013 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
