Marthe Jacquet was born as Marthe Tournadre in Champs-sur-Tarentaine, Cantal, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France on 16 September 1912. She was raised by her widowed mother alongside two siblings, including her sister Clotilde who lived to 101, Jacquet began working at a young age to support her family. She eventually became a dyer and ran a shop in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, where she lived until retirement.
In 2018, Jacquet moved to the La Source nursing home in Orléans to be closer to her family. Known for her sharp memory and kindness, she frequently recalled her experiences, including living through the Spanish flu and the hardships of World War II. Even at 109, she remained vibrant, impressing those around her with her recollections of historical events and her fondness for the staff.
Jacquet celebrated her 110th birthday in September 2022, where the nursing home staff, led by Director Séverine Moreau, honored her for her kindness and spirit.
Marthe Jacquet passed away in Orleans, Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire, France on 1 October 2022, at the age of 110 years, 15 days.
At the time of her death, Marthe Jacquet was the fourth-oldest known living person in Centre-Val de Loire (behind Lea Rouget, Andree Guyon, and Antoinette Flageul). She was also the oldest known living person in Loiret department.
