LongeviQuest is saddened to report that Herta Gontz of Germany passed away on October 5th, just hours before her 110th birthday.
At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living person in the city of Dortmund. The birthday celebration was already prepared for her and the mayor of the town was already invited. Sadly, she passed away the night before being able to celebrate her birthday.
Herta Gontz was born on 6 October 1914. She lived alone in an apartment in Lütgendortmund until she was 105 years old. During her last years, she resided in the Zeppelinstrasse retirement home in Dortmund-Huckarde.
When asked about the secret of her longevity, she attributed it to two glasses of eggnog everyday.
