Edwin George “Ed” Martin, a resident of Lehigh Acres, Florida, is celebrating his 110th birthday today, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.
Martin was born in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, on 15 February 1915. He joined the Baltimore County Fire Department in 1943, dedicating his entire career to the Edgemere station. After retiring in 1964, he relocated to Florida, where he has resided ever since.
On 29 December 2024, following the passing of 110-year-old Eugene Baltes of Illinois, Martin became the oldest known living man in the United States. However, his title may be contested by two individuals who claim to be older.
