Maria Liesse Callou Duarte, a resident of Barbalha in the Brazilian state of Ceará, celebrated her 111th birthday on 2 January.
She was born in the Brejo Seco neighborhood of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, on 2 January 1914, to parents Gonçalo Parente de Sá Barreto and Raimunda Pinto Callou. She had at least six siblings.
Maria Liesse married Joaquim Duarte Grangeiro (1901–1965), who would later be elected twice as mayor of Barbalha, from 1956 to 1959 and 1964 to 1967. She thus was first lady of the city while he served. However, her husband sadly passed away during his 2nd term in July 1965. One of her children, Reginaldo, is a former senator of the republic and Regnoberto, and a retired judge.
LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Maria Liesse Callou Duarte on her 111th birthday. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to her family for sharing news of her birthday and providing the photos from the celebration.
