Rosena Hankerson was born on 16 March 1907 in Barnwell, South Carolina, USA.

At some point in her life, she got married to Lucius and the couple had no children together. The two of them stayed married for almost 50 years right before her husband passed away in 1997.
Hankerson spent her later years in a nursing home near her hometown. She then passed away on 15 April 2018 in Bamberg, South Carolina, USA.
