She developed a preference for fresh fish, especially trout or salmon. She remarked that she favors fish over other types of meat, stating, “People overindulge in meat, but it’s not as beneficial for your health as fish. Fish is my food.”
As of June 2022, she had three surviving siblings: her sister Áslaug, aged 94; her brother Gísli, aged 92; and her sister Hulda, who was about to turn 96.
