Silveria Martín Díaz, the second-oldest living person in Spain, and the longevity record holder for the autonomous community of Extremadura, celebrated her 114th birthday on June 20th.

Silveria Martín Díaz was born on 20 June 1910 in Talavera la Vieja in Cáceres Municipality, Extremadura, Spain. She grew up there and later married José Arroyo. The couple had five children: Paco, Ana Maria, Leo, Maria Andrea, and Anastasio. They lived in Talavera la Vieja until it was flooded in 1963, and when the inhabitants were rehoused in various towns.

Since January 2022, she has been the second-oldest living resident of Spain, second only to María Branyas Morera, who is the world’s oldest living person.

On August 7, 2023, she became the oldest person to have lived or passed away in Extremadura, and on October 5, she became the oldest person ever born in Extremadura.

Currently, she ranks as the fifth-oldest living person in Europe and the 12th-oldest living person in the world, according to the LongeviQuest atlas.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Martín Díaz on her 114th birthday.
