Flora Reed was a validated American supercentenarian who died in 1979 at the age of 110.
Flora Reed was born in Florence, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA, on 21 August 1869. At 16, Reed began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Dakota Territory, guiding 10 Norwegian children without a formal certificate. Later, she moved to California to attend teacher training. After teaching in Fullerton and Long Beach, she moved to a retirement community at age 88.
At 105, Reed stayed mentally sharp by reading and following current events, attributing her longevity to simply enjoying life.
Reed passed away in Pasadena, California, USA, on 23 August 1979, at the age of 110 years, 2 days.
