It is with a heavy heart for LongeviQuest to report that Edie Ceccarelli passed away at 116. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living person in the United States, as well as the second-oldest living person in the world. 

Edie Ceccarelli recently marked her birthday on February 5, 2024, despite challenging weather conditions. The local police and fire officials led her birthday parade, which has now become a yearly event. Ceccarelli also held the record as the oldest person to have ever lived in the U.S. state of California.

Ceccarelli was born on February 5, 1908, in Willits, California, USA. She was the eldest of seven children to Italian immigrants Agostino Recagno (1874–1965) and Maria Petronavi (1881–1973). 

At 108 years old, she credited her long life to not smoking or drinking, except for a glass of wine at dinner, staying away from arguments, being truthful, putting in effort, and finding joy in small moments. 

Edie Ceccarelli passed away in Willits, California, USA, on 22 February 2024, aged 116 years, 17 days.
