Rio de Janeiro’s Oldest Resident Validated At 111

LongeviQuest is delighted to announce the validation of Mrs. Noemia Vieira de Souza of Duas Barras, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the age of 111.

Noemia Vieira de Souza was born in Duas Barras, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 6 April 1912, as one of six children born to parents Júlio Vieira de Matos and Maria Svoboda. Her mother was born in Austria-Hungary. She was known to be a talented dancer while in school, and her talents would lead her to become a skilled artisan and seamstress.

In 1931, she married Manoel Luiz de Souza. The couple had 8 children (four sons and four daughters).

 

At the age of 111, she has 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
