In 1888, she was married to Harvey S. Farrington and the couple had a son together. Unfortunately, she became widowed and then remarried Charles Summer Stiver. The two of them divorced soon after the wedding. Jennie married for a third time to Otto F. Worden and the couple moved to Los Angeles after adopting a daughter.

After her 100th birthday, she stated that her longevity is based on having a desire to live and her love of people. She also mentioned “being contented with everyday happenings.”

Mrs. Worden passed away on 19 February 1982 in San Andreas, California, USA.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Alma Abernathy of the United States at age 112. She was born in Nulltown, Indiana, United States on 7 December 1865. She was a wife and a mother to 5 children.

Abernathy continued to live on her own until her 70s, before moving in with her foster daughter in 1960. She was a longtime member of the Columbia United Methodist Church. As a lifelong Republican, Abernathy had voted in every major election since women gained the right to vote in 1920. In December 1975, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the first known supercentenarian who was both born and living in the U.S. state of Indiana.

Abernathy was a healthy and active woman who lived a long and fulfilling life. She claimed to have never visited a doctor until she was 90. Her first hospitalization was at the age of 99 after a fall. She celebrated her 100th birthday with an open house attended by over 200 people. As a centenarian, her favorite pastime was watching television, with her favorite highlight being the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, when she was 103. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing, but gave up these hobbies around the age of 104 due to failing eyesight. She suffered another fall one month before her 106th birthday and spent a week in the hospital for observation, but she didn’t break any bones and made a full recovery. A few months before her 109th birthday, she moved into a nursing home due to declining health.

Alma Abernathy died in Connersville, Indiana, USA on 31 January 1978 at the age of 112 years, 55 days, following a lengthy illness. She was survived by a foster daughter, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

LongeviQuest is delighted to share that Pearl Berg, the 10th oldest living person in the world, turns 114 years old. She is an American supercentenarian born on 1 October 1909 who is also the second-oldest living person in California, USA.

Pearl Berg was born in Evansville, Indiana, USA, to parents who are of Polish and Russian descent.

In November 1931, she married Mark Berg, an immigrant from Ukraine, and had two sons together.

In 1937, she became a member of Temple Israel and continues to attend occasional services at the synagogue. Because of her longevity, she earned the title of being the oldest living Jew in the world. Pearl was tasked to write notes to bereaved families on behalf of the Temple Israel’s Sisterhood, which she was still doing until she was 105 years old.

Pearl is now the 10th oldest living person in the world, 3rd oldest living American, 2nd oldest living person from California, and the oldest living Jewish person in the world.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Henry Taylor of the United States at age 110. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, United States on 28 September 1907. Taylor was a brother to 11 siblings. He was also a husband and a father to four children. He worked in the Circulation Department for the South Bend Tribune, retiring in 1969.

On 17 February 2018, following the death of 110-year-old Herbert Engel, he became the oldest known living man in the U.S. state of Michigan.

Taylor passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, on 15 April 2018, at the age of 110 years, 199 days. He was survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Mildred Skjordahl of the United States at age 110. She was born in Hammond, Lake County, Indiana, United States on 10 July 1913. She was a daughter to two Polish-born parents. Skjordahl’s sister and father were also both blessed with long and healthy lives. Her older sister lived to be 96, and her father lived to be 100. Currently, Skjordahl is the oldest living person in the state of Arizona and is among the top 10 oldest people ever to reside in Arizona.

At the age of 28, Skjordahl married her husband and together they had two sons. She began ballroom dancing at the age of 70 and won many awards in competitions. She gave up dancing in her 100s and took up painting as a hobby. Skjordahl lived in Florida for several years before moving to Catalina Foothills, a small community north of Tucson, Arizona.

On her 110th birthday, Skjordahl was visited by family and friends. She stated that the secret to her longevity was to “keep busy and keep breathing.”

She is an American supercentenarian currently recognized as the second-oldest known living person in California, behind Edie Ceccarelli. Although she was from Indiana, she has been a resident of California for over 90 years. After Ushi Makishi passed away on 4 July 2023, Pearl Berg, 113 years old, became the 10th oldest living person in the world.

Her parents were of Polish and Russian descent. Moreover, her father was born in Canada, while her mother was born in Toledo, Ohio. She had a brother, Robert Samuel, and a sister, Selma.

Mrs. Berg spent her childhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, before moving to Los Angeles, California, with her family in 1929-1930. This is also where Pearl met her future husband, Ukrainian immigrant Mark Berg. The couple got married in November 1931, and they had two sons named Alan and Robert.

Over the years, Pearl accompanied Mark on many of his business trips, including to Japan. After his death in December 1989, Mrs. Berg had to maintain a social life for herself, so she decided to join a book club, watch concerts and plays, and become more involved with a bridge group.

Time passed by and they had four children, nine grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Mary Price passed away on 29 August 2022 at her lake cottage in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA at the age of 110.
