Olive Evelyn Boar (née Macro) was a British supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the United Kingdom. Upon her death, she was the tenth-oldest person to die in the United Kingdom. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Boar was born as Olive Evelyn Macro in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, on 29 September 1904. She was one of eight children born to her parents, William and Alice, who both lived to be nonagenarians. Her sister, Daisy Wingate, died in 2019 at 103 years old.

In 1932, Boar married her husband, Claude. The couple had two sons, Colin and Robin, in 1936 and 1945. They bought their first house in Ipswich for £300. Boar worked as a seamstress.

Boar was widowed in 1979 after her husband died aged 77. She had never owned an automatic washing machine nor had central heating, and had never left the U. K., never even owning a passport. Until 2013, she lived independently before relocating to a care home in nearby Felixstowe.

Boar died on 28 August 2018 at the age of 113 years, 333 days. She was survived by her two sons, as well as five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
