Matsuyo Eda

Matsuyo Eda (Japanese: 江田マツヨ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Miyagi Prefecture.

Biography

Matsuyo Eda was born in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, on 17 February 1911.

In July 1949, at the age of 38, she moved with her family to Taiwa, Miyagi Prefecture, to develop the Namba area.

At the age of 100, she lived with her third son and his wife, and she was still able to work in the fields and knit. She was weeding around her house until she was 108.

Eda passed away in Taiwa, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, on 28 October 2022, at the age of 111.

Recognition

When she turned 100, she was interviewed by the Taiwa town public relations paper, and she recalled: “There were many hardships during the pioneering days of the area.”

On 27 February 2022, following the death of 112-year-old Kineko Takahashi, she became the oldest living person in Miyagi Prefecture.

Upon her death, Emi Miura became the oldest living person in the Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yu Li, and validated by LongeviQuest on 2 July 2023.
