Harue Nobira (Japanese: 野平 ハルヱ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Biography

Harue Nobira was born in Asakita Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, on 28 March 1907, as the eldest of two children. Her family was wealthy and she was very well brought up during her childhood. On the mornings it snowed, she was piggybacked to elementary school.

According to her daughter, due to her upbringing, Nobira had a slightly different sense of common sense. She was a fashion lover even in her later years, and was a “health geek” – enthusiastic about homemade green juice and garlic egg yolks. As a result, she was highly conscious of her healthy longevity.

By the time she was 111, she was wheelchair-bound.

Harue Nobira passed away in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, in the morning of 2 April 2018, at the age of 111 years, 5 days.

Recognition

On 22 January 2018, following the death of 110-year-old Misao Takuwa, she became the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Upon her death, Toshimi Kikkawa became the oldest living person in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 10 July 2023.
