Harue Kyūma

Harue Kyūma (Japanese: 久馬晴枝) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Kyoto Prefecture.

Biography

Harue Kyūma was born in Ayabe, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on 4 January 1909.

According to her family, she was a hard worker and worked diligently in the fields every day. She had never been seriously ill, and in her middle age she used to walk to her house, about 10 kilometers away from the city. Around the age of 96, she entered a nursing home.

Harue Kyūma passed away in Obatacho Disctrict, Ayabe, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on 10 October 2020, at the age of 111.

Recognition

On 16 September 2019, on the Respect for the Aged Day, she was congratulated on her longevity by the mayor of Ayabe, and was attended by ten of her relatives, including her great-great-granddaughter (aged 1 at the time). At the time, she was reported as the oldest living person in the Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yu Li and Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 2 July 2023.
