Chiyo Awa (Japanese: 阿波千代) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. At the time of death, she was the oldest living woman in Kyoto Prefecture.

Chiyo Awa was born in Japan on 15 May 1898.

Chiyo Awa passed away of chronic respiratory failure in Maizuru, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on 30 November 2009, at the age of 111.

Recognition

In June 2006, she became the oldest living person in the city of Maizuru.

Between September 2007 and September 2009, she was annually reported as the second-oldest living person in Kyoto Prefecture, after Jiroemon Kimura.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano and Stefan Maglov, and validated by LongeviQuest on 13 July 2023.
