Yoshie Okamoto (Japanese: 岡本芳江) was a Japanese supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Yoshie Okamoto was born in Japan on 31 March 1907.

On 18 September 2013, at the age of 106, she received a visit from the mayor of Obama at the nursing home where she resided. At the time, she was the city’s oldest resident. The mayor presented her with a congratulatory letter in celebration of her longevity. Her family and the staff of Wakasa Heights also honored her with congratulatory messages and bouquets of flowers.

Yoshie Okamoto was last confirmed alive on 1 January 2019, at the age of 111. She was a resident of Obama, Fukui Prefecture.

RECOGNITION

On 14 April 2017, shortly after turning 110, she became the oldest living person in Fukui Prefecture, following the passing of 110-year-old Yoshiko Ito.

Her age was verified by the MHLW, Japan, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 12 September 2019. The validation was later recognized by LongeviQuest.
