Jeannette Germain, a resident of Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada, passed away on 2 August, at the age of 110 years, 134 days.

Jeannette Germain was born in Sainte-Thècle, Quebec, on 21 March 1915. In her youth, she planted and harvested potatoes. At the age of 16, she began working as a “hired girl,” taking the place of women who were expecting children.

She married at 20, and two years later, she and her husband moved to the Christ-Roy district of Shawinigan. Her husband built their home himself. When the house eventually became too small for their growing family, he built them another. Together, they raised 10 children. She sewed and knitted clothes for her family, and for a time, she also worked at the Lafrance general store.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Jeannette Germain during this difficult time.
