Mabel Dunbar, a resident of Fayetteville, Georgia, USA, celebrated her 112th birthday yesterday, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Mabel Dunbar was born in Jamaica on 5 September 1914. Her father was a farmer, while her mother stayed home to care for the children. After emigrating to the United States in the 1960s, she lived in New York for over two decades before moving to Florida in 1994. She never married, but she had a daughter, Minora Rosenthal. She had another daughter who died at seven months.
Dunbar lived in Florida with her daughter beginning in 1994, before moving to Fayetteville in August 2025 to live with her granddaughter and grandson-in-law.
When asked about the secret to her longevity, she attributed it to her faith and close family ties. Speaking to FOX 5 Atlanta, she said: “God is love and I love my families, I love all my families and strangers.”
