Francesca Fioriglio, the oldest living person in Sicily, and the second-oldest in Italy, celebrated her 113th birthday in Agrigento on 11 January. Her birthday was confirmed by Sicilia24ore.

Fioriglio was born in Sciacca, Sicily, Italy on 11 January 1912. At the age of 24, she married Vincenzo Restivo, a major marshal in the army. After marrying, in November 1936, she moved to Agrigento, her husband’s hometown. The couple had seven children, but three died as infants. Her family also included another centenarian—her sister, Angelina, who lived in Sciacca and passed away a few months after turning 100.

When asked about the secret to her longevity, she credited a healthy and serene lifestyle, free from excess. She never smoked and maintained a diet centered on light meals, occasionally accompanied by a glass of fine wine.

Following the passing of 111-year-old Giuseppa Comandè on 8 July 2022, she became the Oldest Living Person in Sicily. Following the passing of 114-year-old Claudia Baccarini, she became the 2nd-oldest living person in Italy, only after Lucia Laura Sangenito.
