Giuseppina Zecchini, a resident of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy, passed away on 17 October, at the age of 111 years, 129 days, according to ansa.it.
Giuseppina Zecchini was born in Verona, Veneto, on 10 June 1914. She was the fourth of five siblings. She excelled in mathematics and Italian during her elementary school years. At the age of 14, she left her family home to work as a babysitter in Bolzano.
In 1939, at the age of 25, she married Laerte Neri, a carpenter at the Military Engineers of Fleres. Together, they had three children: Ettore, Renata, and Paolo. She was widowed at 45 and raised her children alone, supporting them through household work. Until the age of 100, she walked around the city, getting on and off buses without any problems.
