Zorie De Mattos, a resident of Georgetown, Guyana, celebrated her claimed 111th birthday on 17 January, according to the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

Zorie De Mattos claims to have been born in the village of Hand-en-Veldt, near Mahaica, Guyana, on 17 January 1915. She spent her early years in a convent.

In 1969, she was admitted to a nursing home in Georgetown. She was reportedly left there by an older brother who could no longer care for her. By the age of 110, it was reported that she had never required hospitalization for any health condition and did not take medication for chronic illnesses.

If her claimed age is accurate, she could be the oldest living person in Guyana. To date, no supercentenarian born in or deceased in Guyana has been validated, leaving the identities of the country’s oldest living resident and oldest person ever unknown.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Zorie De Mattos on her birthday.
