Alexandros Vatmanidis, the oldest known living man in Greece, passed away in Chimarros on 16 February, at the age of 108 years, 272 days, according to Aveserres.gr and Εφημερίδα Χειμάρρου.
Vatmanidis (Greek: Αλέξανδρος Βατμανιδης) was born on 20 May 1916. He was affectionately known as Aleko (Αλέκο) by his family.
Following the passing of 108-year-old Georgios Koliopoulos (20 February 1915 – 2 May 2023), he became the oldest known living man in Greece.
At the time of his passing, he was the nation’s second-oldest (known) resident, after Paressa Orfanidou (born 16 September 1915), who resides in Livadochori, just about eight miles from Chimarros.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Alexandros Vatmanidis during this difficult time.
