Yolanda Beltrão de Azevedo, a resident of Maceió, Alagoas, and one of the oldest residents of Brazil, celebrated her 114th birthday on 13 January.

Yolanda Beltrão de Azevedo was born in Coruripe, Alagoas, Brazil, on 13 January 1911, as the first of 15 children. She got married and had four children, two of whom are still living: Her son, João, who is 93 years old, and Irmã (Sister) Iolanda Beltrão, born in 1933, who is 91 years old. She was a devoted housewife who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She also has one living sister, Salete Beltrão, who is 91.

At the age of 107, when asked about the secret to her longevity, she shared that she ate a variety of foods but avoided passion fruit juice as it caused her stomach discomfort. She also enjoyed crocheting, explaining that the activity kept her mind focused: “When I crochet, I don’t think about anything else, so I never miss a stitch.” At the time, she had 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Her age was verified by Iara Souza and Gabriel Ainsworth, and validated by LongeviQuest on 27 March 2024, becoming the first documented supercentenarian from the state of Alagoas.

At the moment, she is the third-oldest (known) living person in Brazil, following 116-year-old Inah Canabarro Lucas (Irmã Inah) of Rio Grande do Sul, and 114-year-old Izabel Rosa Pereira of Minas Gerais. She is also the 12th-oldest (documented) living person in the world.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Yolanda Beltrão de Azevedo on her 114th birthday. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to her family members, not only for their cooperation during the validation process but also for generously sharing photos and videos from this celebration.
