Yukiko Nakao, a resident of Nogata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, celebrated her 110th birthday on 26 December. Her birthday was first announced by Nishinippon Shimbun.
Yukiko Nakao (中尾ユキ子) was born on 26 December 1914, in Kawatana-cho, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan.
After living in Tokyo, she moved to Nogata City in Fukuoka Prefecture with her mother following the war. She lived independently for many years in a city housing complex but has been residing in a cooperative housing facility since 2012.
Her daily routine begins with washing her face and dressing independently, followed by taking her designated seat in the lounge. She typically has breakfast around 7:00 a.m. In addition to her personal routine, she helps bundle newspapers with string and stamps the residents’ communication notebooks. After dinner, she spends time tidying her room, usually wrapping up her day by 9:00 p.m. Her favorite food is somen noodles, as they are easy to eat and gentle on her stomach.
In September 2024, in celebration of Respect for the Aged Day (敬老の日, Keirō no Hi), the Nishinippon Shimbun published statistics on the oldest living residents of Fukuoka Prefecture. At that time, the prefecture was home to 4,097 centenarians. The oldest among them was 111-year-old Haruko Onizuka, born on 18 March 1913. She was followed by four individuals aged 110, ten aged 109, and fourteen aged 108.
LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Yukiko Nakao on her 110th birthday.
