Belia Engracia Cabezas Araya, the second-oldest (known) living person in Costa Rica, passed away on October 29, at the age of 111 years, 60 days.

Cabezas Araya was born in Ángeles de San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica, on 30 August 1913, as the fifth daughter born to parents Eleodoro Cabezas Quesada and Amada Ester Araya Salas. Her paternal grandfather was José Gabriel Cabezas Alfaro (1815–1917), one of the founders of Ángeles de San Ramón, and a veteran of the Second Battle of Rivas.

Cabezas Araya never married nor had children.

At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in Costa Rica, behind Marita Camacho Quirós.
