LongeviQuest is happy to announce the age validation of Maria Jorge Esteves de Almeida, a 112-year-old lady who currently resides in Catanduva, São Paulo, Brazil.
Maria Jorge Esteves de Almeida was born in Tocha, Coimbra District, Portugal, on 28 May 1912. When she was about one year old, her father, Augusto, traveled to Brazil in search of better job opportunities, while she remained in Tocha with her mother, grandmother, and maternal aunts. In 1917, when she was nearly five years old, she traveled to Brazil by ship, accompanied by her mother and a paternal uncle. Upon arrival in Santos, São Paulo, they were met by her father, who immediately took them to Minas Gerais, where another paternal uncle, Júlio, was already living.
Later, she moved with her parents to Pindorama, São Paulo, where she spent the rest of her childhood. She continued her young adult life in Pindorama, marrying Raul de Almeida (born 6 March 1912), a native of Monte Alto, on 11 May 1933. They built their family life in Pindorama, raising their daughters, Sylvia and Maria Helena, there until the daughters married. She remained with her husband in Pindorama until his passing on 10 March 1998. As she grew older and preferred not to live alone, she moved to Catanduva, where she lived with her daughters until finally settling in the home of her eldest.
