The oldest living person on the Caribbean island of Dominica, Mrs. Anastasie Charles of Wesley, passed away on May 22nd, at the age of 110 years, 26 days. Her passing was confirmed by EmoNews and Variety News Group, among others.

Mrs. Charles was born in Wesley on 26 April 1914, as the youngest of 11 children. She gave birth to one child and worked as a farmer on the Londonderry Estate. She ate what she grew, which is believed to have contributed to her longevity. Some of her favorite foods were crayfish, callaloo, dasheen, coconut and veyo. She also cited other factors contributing to her long life, including proper rest, a kind heart, patience, and the goodness of God.

On 15 October 2021, following the passing of 107-year-old Elizabeth Auguiste of Portsmouth, who was a month older than her, she became the oldest living resident of Dominica.

LongeviQuest sends our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Anastasie Charles.
