Leiber was born in Lewisburg, Ohio, USA, on 24 March 1902. She was the youngest sibling of 6.
Remaining unmarried and childless, Leiber’s career path led her to own and operate a beauty shop in the Dayton area, where she worked until her retirement in 1965. Afterward, she relocated to Florida. A former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg, she continued to engage in her community even after moving. Notably, on her 110th birthday, Mayor Kenneth W. Bradley declared it Ella Ruth Leiber Day in Winter Park, Florida. Despite advancing age, she remained active, enjoying pursuits like driving and solving crossword puzzles until she reached her centenary.
Leiber passed away in Winter Park, Florida, USA, on 6 September 2012, at the age of 110 years, 166 days.
