Änne Matschewsky was a validated German supercentenarian who died in 2023 at the age of 111. She was the third-oldest known living person in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Änne Matschewsky was born Anna-Maria Magdalena Kertz in Weeze, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on 3 October 1912. Matschewsky excelled in sports as a teen, winning university titles in shot put and discus. Her athleticism extended to high jump, gymnastics, shooting, and even gliding. She was a sister, a wife, and a mother.

As an adult, Matschewsky became a sports teacher. Her active spirit continued into her later years, leading resident gymnastics classes with a walker until 2019, even while living in a nursing home.

On her 110th birthday, Matschewsky tested positive for COVID-19, so her birthday party had to be canceled. Her friends and family could see her through the window of her care home.

Matschewsky died on 23 September 2023 as Ulm’s oldest resident in history, at the age of 110 years, 355 days. At the time of her death, Matschewsky was the third-oldest resident of Baden-Württemberg, after Charlotte Kretschmann and Hildegard Rau.
