Alfreda Screaigh, age 110, is now a validated Australian supercentenarian.
Alfreda Screaigh was born in York, Western Australia, Australia, on 28 July 1913. She was a sister to at least eight siblings. She was also a wife and a mother to a daughter.
Since experiencing hearing loss, Screaigh has prioritized regular hearing check-ups since 2008.
Screaigh celebrated her 100th birthday in 2013 with three parties and flowers from her clinic. She credits her long life to fresh air and healthy habits, like avoiding alcohol and smoking.
On 2 November 2023, following the passing of 110-year-old Dulcie Fawcett, she became the oldest known living person in Western Australia, as well as the oldest living Australian-born person.
On 26 January 2024, following the passing of 111-year-old Catherina van der Linden, she became the second-oldest living person in Australia, only after Marija Ruljančić.
